The Lamentations of Juan Dela Cruz
by Rolly Mascardo

Because I love my country
I am truly scared of an FPJ presidency.
Honesty and feelings for the poor which he
claims to have are not enough to run the government
The Presidency calls for a high degree of intellect,
sound understanding of the economy, of foreign affairs,
of social services and of defense and good working knowledge
of police work and the fight against terrorism, criminality and rebellion.
It is not an ordinary man's work but is a complex responsibility
that requires a complex mind.
Neither can the Presidency be run by delegation.
A thousand and one advisers is alright
if you as President knows what, when and how to ask
and knows how to judge wisely and weight the advises
given so that in the end the final mind and decision is yours.
This certainly cannot be expected from FPJ.
The people who will run the government, regardless of his denials,
will be the likes of traditional politicians who have their own interest to
serve as foremost in their agenda.
Once in power the nation will again witness the spectacle of another round of vengeance - payback from their political opponents.
This will be another toll and setback for the economy
which we can ill afford.
Next will be years of the learning process, if he will even learn,
and of trial and errors that he will go through.
He must think, "If Erap did it so can I".
But he forgets that Erap didn't make it.
To the presidency yes but to faithful governance NO!
He failed and miserably too.
If FPJ truly loves this country he should give up now.
Now before it is too late.
His friends are clearly cheering him on, some are even salivating
at the prospect of being close to the powers that be,
But if FPJ sincerely loves the poor and the country he
should end all pretensions to leadership now.
He is not qualified to be President
If he knew it before, He should know it more than ever now.
Unfortunately, I am not for any particular candidate
As to my mind nobody exemplifies true & qualified leadership.
It is a tragedy we all can't do anything about
but simply try to survive.
